Internships

Widener University (2023) MSW social work interns tabling at MNYK Out & About community event.

Prevention Meets Fashion's (PMF) internship program is a 3-month workforce development, mentorship, and leadership program focused on supporting the personal, professional, academic and economic growth of Black, POC, LGBTQ+ and non-binary community members living in Philadelphia, PA and surrounding counties.

PMF has both paid and unpaid internship opportunities for social workers and non-social workers. See below…

PMFs internship program is designed to support several populations:

  • Social Work Students- WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

    • PMF gives individuals completing their BSW or MSW the opportunity to learn and practice social work while being mentored by a social worker. Students will learn to think critically about theories, connect theory and practice. Also, students will take the skills learned in the classroom and apply them in real world situations through projects, activities and tasks while interning at PMF. Additionally, they will gain experience working with various communities, groups, and individuals, including those who have been historically excluded such as Black, LGBTQ+, and non-binary people.

    • PMF social work interns will have opportunities to lead meetings, co-facilitate support groups, assist with writing grants, complete individual and community outreach and assessments, attend and plan events, and work to identify and connect PMF with external organizations that align with our mission and values to build capacity.

    • PMF provides our interns with the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to build a successful future as a social worker.
